Hey Dan, I think the car seat is shrinking.
Okay so today our little boy is three months old. That's hard to believe. While you're pregnant, everybody and their mom tells you how fast kids grow up. Everyone says it. But it's not until you've held that tiny newborn and watched him grow up overnight that you really can know what they mean. It's so true. Jackson has grown so quickly that I find myself looking for the growth emergency brake and yet looking forward to the next stage of his tiny life at the same time.
The last 2 months have gone by in the blink of an eye but have been packed full of lots of fun new discoveries. In his second month, Jackson's personality really started to emerge. He started speaking his own little baby language consisting mostly of "goo" and "aye" (or "I" or "eye" depending on the context). Thankfully, Dan and I picked up the language fairly quickly and we're able to communicate with the little guy with almost no language barrier. He smiles at the slightest provocation, especially when a stranger stops us mid-stroll to "ooh" and "aah" over how cute he is. I'm pretty sure he knows the word "cute" and thinks it's his cue to tilt his head and smile a big smile. Such a ham!
He's pretty much a pro at holding up his head all of the time so the Bobble Head jokes are losing their luster. He's gotten much better at tummy time and lasts a good five minutes on his belly before he starts to cry and make us feel like we're torturing him into a miserable existence.
He finally became interested in playing with his toys and can usually be found either hugging them or eating them (poor Mr. Froggie and Mr. Giraffe).
He started blowing bubbles (a trait with Dan thinks is gross and is trying to discourage even though I think it's cute). He's even slept through the night a couple of times. I, of course, woke up several times to check on him to make sure he was still breathing so I guess that kind of canceled out the luxury of a baby who sleeps 8 hours straight. His healthy appetite has earned him some endearing chubs and fat rolls. More for his mommy and daddy to love.
Dan and I laugh now at how ready we are to talk about Jackson's ability to sit up in his Bumbo seat or his ability to name the ninth letter of the alphabet. We've officially settled into our status as The Infatuated Parents who can't get enough of our kiddo. We definitely feel so very blessed by God to be watching this little boy grow and so humbled to realize that God has given us the responsibility of taking care of him and raising him up to know how much God loves him.

Mt. Rainier, dear.
We took full advantage of a gorgeous summer day to drive up to Mt. Rainier with our friends, The Rikalos. It was Steve, Lindsey, and Kaci's first trip to Paradise and Jackson's too.
It couldn't have been a more beautiful day to experience the wildflowers and incredible beauty of God's amazing creation.Dan pushed the BOB stroller all over the steep mountain paths as we searched for the perfect viewpoint. It was such a clear day that we could see all the way to Mt. Adams and Mt. St. Helens. Here's some video from our day hike...
It was an unforgettable afternoon at my favorite spot in all of Washington. The perfect summer day.
