a trip to the tulips

Today we took our annual trip to see the tulips in the Skagit Valley. It's one of my very favorite Spring time traditions and even the massive amount of traffic we had to fight in order to get there couldn't stop me from enjoying every bit of it. The added bonus this year was that Dan's parents joined us.

Jackson has his share of fun too. The great outdoors, tractors, mud, helicopters flying overhead, and time spent with Mommy & Daddy and Grandpa Bob & Grandma Jan...all of these ingredients add up to a recipe for fun if you ask Jackson!

And on the rare occasion when we meet a stranger who can operate our camera incredibly well and take a group photo for us:

And a bonus shot: here's Jackson demonstrating his new "Ready...set...go!" pose with Dan.
What a fun day!

got eggs?

Easter may be over, but there are still plenty of Easter eggs around the Blankenship house. I can't express how amazing it is to see Jackson show so much interest in Jesus at such a young age. I know he has a long way to go when it comes to understanding the Gospel, but it's incredible to hear him talk about Jesus at age 1 without being prompted by Dan or me.

He wakes up eager to play with his Easter basket full of eggs that hold pictures of friends and family members. "Need some eggs!" he'll shout until I put the basket within his reach.

And he has been talking about the people that "Jesus went to the cross for" randomly throughout each day. Even riding in the car, Jackson will talk about how Jesus went to the cross for the people in the cars around us. It is awesome!

Easter - {day of} photos

Here are some photos from our Easter day.

Jackson LOVED hunting for his Easter eggs and finding the pictures of some of the people that Jesus went to the cross for hidden inside of them.
The Easter basket was a big hit too.

Dan got an Easter basket of his own and even an egg hunt (as usual).
After church, we went to Grandpa & Grandma Blankenships in Tacoma. There were wooden shoes for the little Dutch boy to wear.

And there was an audience to watch him play golf in the front yard.

Grandma Jan gave him this "flower spinning round and round" and he loved it!
Grandpa Bob showed Jackson how to "drive" fast.

Two days post wisdom tooth extraction, Chipmunk Cheek Dan was healing nicely.
FYI: Jackson does NOT like black olives (even if they ARE fun to put on your fingers).
 There was sidewalk chalk.

There was scooting and rolling down the hill in the front yard.

It was a great day celebrating our Risen Lord.
