Don't get the wrong idea from all of our sight-seeing trips. Dan and the guys work hard in Italy. The schedule here in Grottaglie is a welcomed and refreshing change of pace from that in Washington. Instead of starting work at 5 a.m. like he does in Everett, Dan gets to eat breakfast with Jackson and I (on days that he doesn't pick up cornetti on the drive in) before he heads to work. The days might be a little long -- especially when there's a meeting with Everett (who is 9 hours behind us) -- but at least he's off on the weekends.
Now the thing is that Italy kind of goes on vacation for a couple of weeks in August. Yes, Italy the country. That being the case, things at the plant here in Grottaglie have been a little slow for the Boeing guys these days. This can lead to extended lunches in distant locals and even the occasional team meeting at the go-kart track. Here are photos of my Boeing man and his co-workers hard at play...er, I mean WORK!
It would be an understatement to say that the guys enjoyed themselves out on the track. (These go-karts go quite a bit faster than those we have in the States.)
Jackson and I cheered them on from the sidelines.
We know it won't be long before Jackson is joining in on the racing fun.
